According to the U.S. National Survey of Drug Use and Health from 2004 - 2022, major depression among teens since 2010 has grown in girls by 135% and in boys by 161%. The problem persists into adolescent and young adult years with diagnosed mental illness statistics from 2008 – 2018 climbing by 134% in anxiety, 106% in depression, 100% in anorexia, and 33% in substance abuse or addiction since 2010. Today’s students, adolescents, and young adults need our help to restore and grow resilience!
As a parent or educator, you want to show up for your student with support, confidence, and tools that actually work. But when anxiety takes over, it’s not so easy.
Why is resilience so hard to build? Maybe it’s not about trying to make anxiety disappear. What if we could help young people transform their stress and challenges into opportunities for growth right now and turn the tide of mental health?
You might be thinking, "Sure, but not my student." The breakdowns before tests, the worry spirals, the constant second-guessing… they’re way too overwhelming. Trust me. I’ve been there, and change is possible.
If this sounds familiar, you can’t miss my new 5 Keys to Resilience Workshop for school-aged youth and young adults, loaded with research-based and tested interventions that can be delivered in-person or virtually, and include worksheets and promotional flyers.
This isn’t just another lecture or online course. It’s an experience where I not only teach you how to help your student, adolescent, or young adult bounce back from anxiety, low confidence, and challenges, but I show you.
Through interactive role-play, live demonstrations, and practical tools, you’ll learn:
· The cutting-edge science behind resilience and how to teach it to your student
· How to transform anxiety into action and perseverance
· How to boost your student's self-worth and confidence
· How to equip your students with coping skills that last a lifetime
If you’re tired of seeing your students struggle with anxiety and want to see them thrive instead, this workshop is for you. The program can be offered to staff and parents in a workshop format to transfer to students, and directly to students in an assembly and/or in the classroom as a social and emotional learning component (SEL) consisting of sequenced animated and live-action video programming that is used in 8,500 schools, 27 countries, and 48 states and by over 2 million students.
Workshop outline:
· How the keys get lost
· How to restore resilience
· Lots of interventions
Learning Outcomes:
My goal is to share practical and action-oriented strategies that can be used right away to build resilience, increase confidence, and decrease anxiety in young people.
